103 sanitarium

103 side

Its finally ours!

I could not even begin to explain how crazy these past few months have been.  New job, buying a home, the Holidays...Yikes!  Busy but so exciting!

The biggest news is definately the house.  We closed on December 5th (yes, we were looking at getting this house since September!)  But, the way things worked out for us is amazing.  It took a while but it was definately worth it.

Anyways, we closed on Dec 5th and moved in on the 29th.  So we had a few weeks of total renovation on the house.  Lots of very very late nights and working all day the next day only to do it again.  But its totally worth it.  I will post some pics of the inside once we have the rest of the boxes unpacked and our kitchen is finished.  We are waiting on our countertop guy to come and cut the granite so it will be a few more weeks.  And we have to get our appliances but then it will all be ready to go.

Hope everyone had a good Christmas!

Happy Birthday Ray!!

What a crazy month its been!  I wish every month could be as great as this one!

We started out the month with a fun and fabulous weekend in New York for my Brother In Laws wedding.  It was so fun and it was so nice to be able to spend time with Nathans family.  We don't get to see them too often since they live in NY.  And while I was there I got a call with a job offer sooooo....

I quit my job on Monday and  I got a new one.  A job I have been trying to get for 2 years.  It's a governement job and I am so excited!!  Now we will have health insurance and a great retirement plan.  And with health insurance that means we can start thinking about babies!  This makes me very happy!  I officially start October first but I have to go Monday morning and be sworn in as an employee with the federal governemnt.  Scary!

Also this month we found a house.  Its a very long and complicated story and its not 100% official yet, but its looking good for us.  We made an offer and have paid our earnest money but the house isn't officially on the market yet.  They are putting in new HVAC before they list it, but the listing agent is telling all people who call on it that it is already under contract.  So, we feel really hopeful that its going to work out.  Although, I guess at this point anything can happen.  If this doesn't work out this I will be totally crushed!  Here is a pic of the house:

Sanitarium Drive

Its really pretty and has alot of the original features from the 30's that we love.  But, it does need alot of cosmetic work.  But we love it!

And I have to end this with saying Happy Birthday to my sweet little doggie...Ray Charles!  He is 3 today and I love him more today than the day I got him.  This is Ray a couple months ago.  I love him so much!

So, Happy Birthday Ray!  And I will keep everyone posted on the house, etc.  New job means no internet time, but I am not really all that good at Xanga-ing anyways.

Happy Fall Everyone!

Happy 1 year anniversary to us!

Yes, yesterday was our 1 year anniversary.  Can't believe it's been that long.  It's been such a crazy year.  To celebrate we went to Chattanooga for the weekend and stayed at a little bed and breakfast in the art district and then went to the aquarium for the afternoon.  We had a great time!

Earlier this week, I had fallen asleep on the couch while we were watching a movie.  Nathan turned the TV off and went to bed to read and left me there on the couch because I am borderline impossible to wake up.  He came in to wake me up about an hour later so I could get in bed.  Now this is where it gets weird because I don't remember most of this.  But, as soon as he walked into our living room, he said I sat straight up and started screaming to the top of my lungs.  He said I was screaming bloody murder.  The only thing I remember is looking at Nathan and him screaming "Deena...It's ok...It's me" and then me realizing I was screaming.  It was weird.  And then I layed in bed for the next hour giggling at what had happened.  I am a terrible sleeper.

Thats about all the exciting news we have going on in our lives.  We are still house hunting.  We have made offers on 4 different houses and none of them have worked out for different reasons.  In one case there were 27 other offers on the house.  So, we are trying to be patient.  We are specifically looking for an old historic type home that we can demo the inside and completely remodel to the way we would like it...and thats really hard to find.  We'll get there one day though.  Seems like everyone in Nashville wants an old fixer upper to remodel and sell for twice the price so there is alot of housing competition.  But, I am a very competitive person and pretty much drive around every day after work looking for houses and spend all day surfing the net trying to be the first one to find a place.  I think my next move is going to be just to knock on someones door and offer them money for their house even if it isn't for sale.  I wonder if that ever really works?

Hope everyone is well...

Deena!

Yeah, I am terrible at Xanga!

Nathan and I took a much needed trip to Alabama this weekend to visit my family.  I haven't seen them since Christmas and I never go this long without visiting.  Plus, Nathan has been out of town the past 6 weekends so it was nice for us to have some time to spend together.  I wish I had lots of money so that I could go on vacations every other weekend.

There is some very exciting stuff that is possibly going to be happening for us.  It would be a huge answer to prayers.  I will have to fill you guys in when I know for sure if its going to happen...which shouldn't be too much longer I hope.

Life is just really good right now.  Work is really busy but good.  Marriage is really fun!  I can't believe its been almost a year!

Here are some pics from Christmas and our weekend visit.  Hope all of you are happy!!

I Know...It's Been forever!

Today I had to take my little puppy to the vet.  Yesterday we noticed he had a big red bump on him wee-wee.  Didn't know what it was and it looked infected so I took him this morning.

He is a squirmy little dog so I had to help hold him still while the Dr. examined him.  They cut open the bump to try and figure out what it was.  I'm standing there watching the doctor do this and all of a sudden I start sweating and I got real weak.  I excused myself to go to the restroom so I can sit down and put some cold water on my face.

Next thing I know I open my eyes and I am laying on the floor and there are all these people around me with ice packs on my neck and putting candy in my mouth.  I passed out.  Out cold.  It was embarassing.  I think it was because I was watching them examine the bump and it was bleeding and stuff and it made me sick.

I was really embarassed.

But Ray is fine.  He looked mortified while all this was going on and they had to put a "party hat" (actually a muzzle) on him becasue he was biting the nurse.

Guess thats all the news I have to report on.  Its been a slow few months (besides work being so crazy) but thats how I like it.

Hope everyone is well!
